First look: Outside the republiqe x Monnier Paris virtual store for Metaverse Fashion Week

Metaverse-ready digital fashion house, republiqe and French accessory retailer, Monnier Paris are launching a virtual store for Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week, located in the Luxury Fashion District and we had the absolute pleasure of creating a killer PR strategy for them.

COACH, Axel Arigato and Ester Manas have all confirmed they’ll be in the virtual store alongside Wandler and Osoi. republiqe, who have created five of their own bespoke outfits to sit in the store, will also work closely with the brands to turn their physical accessories into virtual metaverse-ready wearables, which will all be sold as NFTs.

republiqe have created COACH’s first ever virtual bag which will be sold as an NFT in the virtual store. As well as virtually recreating COACH's famous 'Pillow Tabby Shoulder Bag', republiqe have also recreated a virtual pair of Axel Arigato trainers; the Marathon Runner in Grey / Puritan Grey.

For Ester Manas, a virtual version of their famous Clutch has been created and will be sold in the neon green shade.

Wandler will be launching a blue gradient bag (pictured below) and thanks to republiqe, Osoi have created a virtual version of their Pecan Brott bag.

Taking place from March 24th through to March 27th, this show will be the world’s first fashion week to take place in the metaverse.

“If you’re confused about how a Metaverse Fashion Week might take place,” explains James Gaubert, Founder of republiqe. “The team at Decentraland are building what is essentially a virtual world, where each virtual store will sit within a specific fashion district.”

“As well as the digital stores, there will also be virtual catwalks, where physical fashion brands can showcase their latest digital collections. Visitors will also have the opportunity  to purchase NFTs and attend e-talks and seminars; it’s expected to be much bigger than Decentraland’s Deadmau5 concert, which attracted more than 40,000 virtual visitors.”

To get involved with Metaverse Fashion Week, visitors will need to create an account with Decentraland where, once logged in, users will be able to walk around the entire show, just as you would in real life. These shows and talks will all be running to a schedule, which can be found through the link here.

This virtual shop will, just like any eCommerce shop, be open 24/7 throughout the duration of the week, allowing visitors to walk in, view and purchase any of the designer apparel.

Those wanting to visit the republiqe x Monnier virtual store will be able to do so through the link here.

Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, Metaverse Producer at Decentraland said:

“Our aim with Metaverse Fashion Week is to show brands what can be done in the world of virtual fashion. We want Decentraland to be a destination for shopping, where users can buy virtual clothing from some of fashion’s biggest names in the industry.”

Haley Duholke, Global Marketing & PR at Axel Arigato also commented on the collaboration between themselves and republiqe x Monnier Paris

“As a digitally-native brand, stepping into the world of virtual fashion is something that has definitely been our radar for the better part of the last year. To be able to present the Axel Arigato brand alongside other big names within the fashion industry, during the world’s first Metaverse Fashion Week – is such an fantastic opportunity."

James Gaubert, Founder and Creative Director of republiqe commented on the launch of his first virtual store:

“It’s a huge opportunity to be working alongside such credible names in the fashion industry, helping them to dip their toes into the world of virtual fashion for the very first time; it’s a real indication of where this industry is heading.

“The lines between reality and virtual reality are far more blurred than ever before, and as our society radically transforms, we look forward to creating experiences and opportunities for a new generation of metaverse-ready consumers, as the leading digital fashion company of Web3.0.”

Chief Executive Officer of Monnier Paris, Diaa Elyaacoubi, also commented on the collaboration:

“We’re so excited to be the home of virtual fashion for some of these big fashion names in the industry. Metaverse Fashion Week opens the door for brands to step into a virtual world, where the demand from consumers to buy virtual clothes and fashion NFTs is only growing. Expect to see a store which is minimalist in it’s design, yet futuristic in its nature.”
